Earning Money From Home: Keep Your Affiliate Marketing Plan Simple
There are all sort of online gurus who want you to believe that they have cracked the secret of online riches. That’s how they keep you buying their marketing products! But there really is no big secret to earning money from home with an affiliate marketing plan. The same qualities that help you succeed offline work online. Patience and hard work are as valuable today as they were a hundred years ago.
So– what are the specific steps you should take to get started in online marketing?
First of all, decide what your business is going to be. Find a need and fill it: if you see a need online that is not being sufficiently well filled, or that could be filled better or more cheaply, that may be the niche you want to pursue.
What is hot online right now? Try a site called Nicheology (no, I am not their affiliate!). It’s a paid site, but they have their finger on the online pulse regarding what is really hot at any given moment.
Once you have decided on a niche that interests you and where you believe there is money to be made, follow up that decision by becoming an affiliate marketer for a good, solid product in that niche.
The world’s largest seller of affiliate products is Clickbank. I’ve never counted, but they say they sell over 10,000 products. I am inclined to believe them!
Clickbank is extremely user friendly. There is a fair bit to learn about how Clickbank works, but keep at it— it’s not hard. All Clickbank members are exactly like you: they are interested in earning money from home, and they have found an ideal partner in Clickbank.
If you are new, please— do not not try to sell your own product just yet.
If you think this is the way to start earning money from home, you are likely to suffer from “information overwhelm”– you’ll find yourself saddled with too many tasks which will all be new to you, and you will get bogged down trying to figure it all out at once. (Don’t ask me how I know this.)
You need to earn money quickly, or you’re likely to get discouraged. You don’t have the luxury of over-complicating things.
To get started in your affiliate marketing plan, you need not even have your own web page. The vendor will have provided one for you, so use it— unless it’s of very poor design.
In that case, you could have one custom made for you— but always talk to the vendor first.
Once you are set up as an affiliate for a suitable product (and by the way, you have bought the product and tried it out yourself, haven’t you??) you need to drive traffic to that site to get some sales.
For this, I recommend articles and forums to start with.
These provide you with free traffic. Use articles and forums to talk about the product or the niche, and your links will take folks to the sales page.
Only when you have started to actually make some money as an affiliate reseller should you consider putting up your own site. And, again, because you are still relatively new, I strongly suggest you outsource this task.
There are two reasons to have your own site. Number one, you can discuss your niche and your product in articles you post on your site, and, number two, you can include a sign up box to induce people to subscribe to a free newsletter.
Of course you will continue to have links to your affiliate sales page, but now you are trying to establish a little authority in your area of increasing expertise. By having people following you on a blog, and by developing that all important subscriber list, you are now on the way to creating a real online business.
Let’s recap: Start off with a niche that attracts you and where there is money to be made. Promote a good product in that niche and always use the sales page provided by the vendor to start off. Eventually, develop your own site and develop your blog and your subscriber list.
Expect setbacks, and learn from your mistakes. Remember: the net is still the best, most forgiving place on Earth for you to fail in. (Trust me here, I know!)
Then– create your own product.
And— sell your own product through your own affiliate program.
It’s so logical! It’s logical, and it’s doable. And it’s doable for you!
Earning money from home through an affiliate marketing plan is not so hard as you might think. It begins with a third party affiliate product, and ends you becoming the provider of an affiliate product for others to sell. With hard work and persistence, you can come full circle!
