Anything That’s Well Worth Doing, Is Worth Doing Poorly

Yes you got it. You read it correctly. We’re not out of our minds. We really are saying that “anything that’s worth doing is worth doing poorly”. When we found this quote by Joachim DePosada on the web site: The Gary Halbert Letter, it struck such a huge cord. It made such immediate sense to us. The more we looked the more we realised that our lives were built around this quote. What about yours?

Just take your mind back to when you started to learn to drive. That very first time, you pressed your foot down on the throttle. The engine screamed. You lifted your left foot off the clutch with such panache, and you hurled forward with such velocity, you would have beaten any kangaroo.

Can you drive now? Then we rest our case:

Anything that’s worth doing, is worth doing poorly.

Do you remember the first time you played tennis? Did you really get the serve right first time? Or did you carefully throw the ball in the air throw the racket and miss!!! What about now? Was it worth doing it poorly the first time around?

What happened the first time you strode up with your bucket of balls on the driving range? You put the ball down and swung perfectly and hit it for what 500 yards?????? Or, did you: 1. miss it completely, 2. follow through and fall over 3. take out a good portion of the matting or grass with the shot 4. hit it with such force it managed a few yards and stopped.

What is all this about?

Reminding yourself that;

Whenever you do something you haven’t done before. Whenever, you make effort to break an old habit. Whenever you are going to do something that is worth doing.

The odds are you are going to make a hash of it. Don’t give in. You are normal. Don’t listen to that critical voice inside your head that says, “It’s no good. I can’t do it. I will never, ever try again”.

Listen instead to the powerful, self confirming voice that says, “It’s OK. Remember. Anything that’s worth doing, is worth doing poorly” And laugh and keep going.

So, whether your aim is to give up smoking diet.. stop drinking..change your job, learn a language, build a business, whatever it is, accept that you are going to do it poorly at first. Then gradually with practice you will get better and better.

It takes effort to improve yourself. It takes effort to become the best sales person in town. It takes effort to build a successful business. It takes effort to lose weight. It takes effort to follow your dream.

But. If you want to improve yourself! ..If you want to learn a new skill.. There is only one way to start..Overcome your need to be right first time and keep practicing.

So whatever you want to do. Whatever you dream of being! Whatever you see yourself doing in five years time. It all starts with making a fool of yourself now. So you might as well get on with it. Go on, go for your dream!

Remember: Anything that’s worth doing, is worth doing poorly.

Good luck.

Be Happy And Give Us A Great Smile

I often wonder why people seem reluctant to smile these days. It costs nothing to smile so come on people lets start looking a bit happier. This article is all about this and about having a more positive outlook on life which will bring positive results.

I am somebody who used to always think in a negative way, I have now managed to stop this and my life has improved no end. I now like to be around positive people, as these people tend to be more successful and happier. In my opinion there are too many people who are always moaning and groaning and are seemingly depressed.

Growing up I had many things to be negative about, I had a stutter, I have a bald patch, I was overweight and am also quite short for a male at five foot four. I was one of the ones who walked around in a depressed state and I used to feel sorry for myself. Even when I write about it now, I laugh about how stupid I used to be.

I realised early into my twenties that I needed to change my approach to life. I was quite fortunate in that I had a friend at the company I worked for, who was to prove an inspiration to me. His name was Stuart, and even though this may seem cruel, Stuart did not have a lot going for him. I won’t go into details but lets just say even with the problems I felt I had, I was not jealous of him. I became quite good friends with Stuart and we would regularly have lunch together. I would meet him in the canteen at 1pm and would be waiting in my gloomy state of mind, with my gloomy face, for him to arrive. Arrive he certianly did, always with a beaming smile on his face. This always amazed me as I could never understand what he had to be happy about. We would sit down and talk whilst eating our lunch and he never had a negative word to say. When he talked, he talked with passion, about his work and interests. One day it dawned on me, if Stuart (who from what I know of him, seemingly has nothing going for him) can always be positive, happy and smiling, why can’t I?

This was the beginning of my new outlook on life. An era of being positive, appreciating what I have got and more than anything else, plenty of smiles. I now am happy with my weight, height, bald patch and am proud to say I have now overcome my stutter.

Effective Business-Building Techniques

The following techniques with assist you in building your business to levels beyond your belief. No matter how simplistic these techniques seem if you implement them into your everyday business practice, then your business will explode!

1) Simply lose the “always be closing mindset” and live with the mindset of “always be opening long-term relationships”.

2) Never prejudge. You just never know who will be your next huge sale or potential business partner. Let them tell you yes or no. Don’t make the decision for them!

3) You must imagine you have ears like the size of dumbo. Always out listen your prospect and they will sell themselves on your business.

4) Attend every business presentation with the business relationship already cemented in your mind. A business person without a strong belief along with rock solid vision will fail.

5) Offensively handle every objection. Learn to love it when someone tells you no. Sell offensively versus trying to close defensively.

6) Always be early for all your appointments. This gives you the edge in the game of sales. This alone will increase your closing ration 25%.

7) You must imagine you have ears like the size of dumbo. Always out listen your prospect and they will sell themselves on your business.
8) Attend every business presentation with the business relationship already cemented in your mind. A business person without a strong belief along with rock solid vision will fail.

9) Just go for it! Spend everyday knowing why you are building your business and what the ultimate outcome will be. You must see it in order to accomplish it!

I challenge you to add these business building techniques to your daily action steps and commit to doing them every time you enter into a new business relationship. Your life and your business will change!

Are You Afraid Of Success

It is well documented that many people fail to achieve their goals in life due to the phenomenon known as “fear of failure” but are you aware that a major factor that is often overlooked, is a state known as “fear of success”?

Fear of failure will lead many people into inertia - the inability to make decision or take action in case they receive rejection or negative outcomes. This mental state is fairky easy to identify and there are many tools in the personal development industry to help combat this plague and reprogram the mind for success. However, the fear of success is much more subtle, harder to spot and also harder to eradicate.

Perhaps you have this tendency in your life. Here are some indications of a fear of success mentality.

Studying and trying to implement self-improvement techniques and/or personal development tools but your life does not improve or may even get worse.

You settle for less than you feel you deserve or are capable of achieving.

You start new projects full of enthusiasm and optimism but wane in your efforts or stop short before you have completed them.

You expect things to go wrong no matter how well the situation appears to be at the moment.

Can you identify your own patterns in the any of the above statements?

The fear of success can also make you behave in ways that hold you back. Look at the list below. These are ethe symptoms of the fear of success.

Procrastination - putting off what needs to be done or not doing what you know will bring you closer to your desired result. Everyone suffers from this inner ‘demon’ at some point in their lives (although some of us suffer from it more than others!).

Procrastination is a ’success killer’! How can ou expect to reach your destinationm if you do not take steps towards it? Strive to do little things each day that will bring you small steps closer to your goal. This is why having a personal development plan is an essential ingredient in the fight against procrastination. Take action! Any action! Refine your steps as you go along but do not sit and do nothing. Taking action is one of the key aspects in personal development.

Can’t see the forest for the trees! - this is almost the opposite of procrastination but has the same effect on your personal development. The aforementioned saying is well known but have you ever given it real consideration?

Don’t get caught up in your plan believing that it is more important than the materialised goal! For many years I got caught in this trap. I started to think and act as though my plan was more important than my end result and thus missed many opportunities to alter my path and reach my goals more quickly! Let go of your ego and allow the Universe to show you a quicker route to your goal. Remain flexible.

Thinking that the time is not right - have you ever waited until the timing was perfect before starting a venture? Have you ever waited until you had more information on a better plan?

Again ACTION is the key to the door to success. Taking small steps forward are better than taking none or waiting to see if your foot is landing on the right spot! Even if your actions take you away from your goal you have at least gained insight and knowledge about what does not work!

Being a perfectionist - this is similar to the point above and has the same effect, namely, that you never really move forward. No matter how good a job is when its finished it can always be improved! I have heard many great musicians tell how they hate listening to their own songs because they can find a million things that need improved. Yet, we still enjoy them. I think a classic example of this is “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Paul Simon. This song is hauntingly beautiful yet Mr. Simon does not think its good enough!

Seeing only problems - how do you use your focus? Do you constantly see only and alll the problems involved? If you are this way inclined it is pointless trying to change overnight! However, you can use this mindset to your advantage while you strive in your personal development to acquire an opportunistic frame of mind instead.

“How can you use seeing only problems to my advantage?” you say. “Easily”, is my reply! Look at the problems and prepare a plan to deal with them. Everytime you overcome one congratulate yourself. Use them as a gauge for your achievements. If you keep seeing more problems remind yourself of how well you dealt with the others. Look at how far you have come! If you see a problem ask yourself, “how best can I overcome this challenge?” or “how quickly can I rectify this situation?”. The quality of your questions are important as I have outlined in a previous article. Use the problems as fact finders. Is there a real problem now? If so then deal with it. Is it a potential problem? If so then create a contingency plan in case it does occur but don’t get caught up in it just be prepared.

Enjoy the journey, follow the above guidelines and you will achieve success. Eventually your fear of success will dissipate and you will have moved a long way forward in your personal development.

Beauty, The Open Heart And Gratitude

“beauty on your earth is a shadow of the beauty of our heaven, and it’s a bitter thing to have a blindness for beauty on earth, for it makes a longer teaching to see the beauties of heaven.” Spoken by an Irish spirit in the book The Boy who Saw True (anonymous author).

I have been counseling individuals, couples, families and business partners for the last 35 years, and am the author of eight published books. Since my work is spiritually based, I have developed many ways of helping people open their hearts to love. Opening to beauty is one of those ways.

I have always appreciated beauty. Since I’ve been a small child, I’ve collect beautiful things - shells, rocks, wood, as well as works of art, and there are always lots of plants around. There is nowhere in my environment where there is not something beautiful to look at, both inside and outside in nature. When I walk through my home and the land around it, my heart fills with awe and love as I appreciate the beauty around me. I’ve done this so automatically throughout my life that it never occurred to me that many people do not open to beauty nor create beauty around them.

In working with some of my clients struggling to keep their heart open, I’ve mentioned focusing on an object of beauty, and have been surprised to find that many of them have no beauty around them - no plants, flowers, works of art or objects of nature. When they look around they see walls, appliances, computers and other buildings. Their left brain functions just fine in this environment, but what about the right - the creative, intuitive, spiritually-connected aspect?

I want to encourage everyone who reads this to consider feeding your soul with beauty. There is nothing like awe and gratitude for something beautiful to open the heart to gratitude in general. If you can love the intricate design in the bark of a tree, or the vibrancy of a flower, or the balance of a beautifully thrown piece of pottery - that might lead you into loving and appreciating the beauty of you and your own soul. It might open you to feeling gratitude for your life and the sacred privilege of experiencing your journey on this planet.

How much of your thinking time is spent being upset or unhappy about something? What if all that time was spent in gratitude for what you have and for the beauty around you? What if you were present enough in this moment to revel in the fact that you can turn on a faucet and have hot water come out? That you have food to eat and a bed to sleep on? If you are reading this, it is likely that you have a computer, which means you have more than most of the people on this planet.

Try this little experiment: find something of beauty - it can be as simple as a leaf, a flower, a photograph, a small work of art or the top of a tree out your window. Now let yourself completely open to the thing of beauty. Let yourself feel the beauty in your body - in your heart, your solar plexus, in your stomach, arms and legs, in your forehead. Let the beauty enliven your body and fill it with vitality. Breathe in the beauty and feel your body’s reaction to it. Open to gratitude, thanking God for this experience of beauty.

Notice the peace and joy it gives you to be in this moment with this simple object of beauty. What would life be like if you spent more moments like this, in the present with beauty and with all you have? How much of your waking time is spent in this way?

Beauty and gratitude are soul foods. When you choose to open to them, you extend an invitation to love, peace and joy. This raises your frequency and opens the door to your spiritual Guidance. Your Guidance is always here for you, helping you on your soul’s journey. Opening to beauty and gratitude, with a deep intent to learn about what is loving to you and others, will open you to your spiritual Guidance.

Developing An Entrepreneurial Mindset

When you have decided to run your own business, whether online or offline, you have to understand that you have to develop an entrepreneurial mindset in order to succeed. Many people have this naturally and have never worked for anyone in their life.

They have always worked for themselves or run their own businesses. For other people who want to change their circumstances in life, by working for themselves, developing an entrepreneurial mindset will be something they need to work on.

Hard work and determination are two factors that, without which, success will be impossible to achieve. However, these on their own, are not enough. Having the right mindset to succeed is just as important. You have to have a deep rooted belief in what you are doing, as well as belief in yourself, that you have the ability to move forward and achieve your goals.

This is often the biggest hurdle to get over. It is often ourselves that are our greatest enemy and place the biggest obstacles in our own way. The way to get round these is to stop sabotaging your own efforts and remove any negative beliefs you have about yourself and your ability to achieve your goals.

Every single human being has such massive potential. We have wonderful powers of resourcefulness that rise to the surface at times of great stress. In other words, when we really have to do something, we find a means to do it.

The objective is to retrain yourself to be able to use this inner resourcefulness at any time. An entrepreneurial mindset that will not accept defeat and that will find a means to succeed at whatever challenge we place in front of ourselves, is quite possible for anyone to retrain themselves to use.

Many successful business people have been able to make huge achievements, even when they have become entrepreneurial later on in life. They may have spent many years as an employee working for someone else, trading their time for money and lining someone else pockets.

So do you have an employee mindset, being content with being led through life by someone else, doing as you are told and following someone else’s instructions for the whole of your working life? Or are you discovering something about yourself? That you do actually have an entrepreneurial mindset, deciding on your own goals, your own way of generating an income and having the belief that you will succeed, no matter what anyone else tries to tell you, or otherwise convince you of?

Fellowshipping

Fellowship merely means you’ll need to become investing time with people who are forging forward towards exactly the same objectives as you in life - Achievement. When you converse with numerous successful individuals, they’ll all say, “I never would have created it if it were not for a few particular individuals, who really believed in me and urged me to remain on track to attain my objectives.”

Did you know

Isaac Newton did poorly in grade college?

Beethoven’s music teacher as soon as mentioned that he was hopeless like a composer?

Edison’s teachers told him he was as well stupid to learn something?

F.W. Woolworth obtained a work in a dry goods shop when he was 21, but his employers wouldn’t allow him wait on a customer simply because he did not have enough sense?

A newspaper editor fired Walt Disney simply because he had no good suggestions?

Isaac Newton did poorly in grade college?

How Do People Get Inspired

“Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?”

No matter how this topic is tackled, the question remains a mystery.

“Do you need to be inspired to aspire or do you require an aspiration to obtain inspired?”

The same holds true for that second question. Other people may argue that in purchase to possess a strong desire to achieve something, you must be stimulated. Alternatively, some argue that for you personally to become inspired, you may need to aspire very first.

This is very much like the chicken and the egg question, right? There is no definite answer. Concerning inspiration vs. aspiration, the best course of action is to discover how to get people inspired, rather than focus on which is the right answer. For some people, inspiration helps them stay motivated and become an achiever.

So, how do people get inspired?

The feeling of frustration forces some to seek inspiration. Some need to experience unpleasant circumstances to trigger an inspiration. This path might not be at all pleasant. But who says that the road to higher achievement is always smooth sailing?

Take for instance the case of an average earner. He just earns enough to make a family survive. On his way to work, he could see other people barely having three square meals a day, hardly having anything to keep them warm on a cold night, practically living on a roofless shanty with paper boards as walls. He wanted to help but can’t.

He feels helpless for he can’t do something to alleviate their condition. This feeling of helplessness urged him to promise himself that his loved ones will never experience extreme poverty. This sensation of aggravation inspired him to aspire for any much better existence for himself and for his family. His fear that his family may end up like one from the economically challenged people makes him determined to do something about improving his monetary stability.

Somebody who is productive can be an efficient supply of motivation. People tend to look as much as somebody who has reached the best. They wonder how it’s to be like their idol, so they established themselves on a course headed in their idol’s direction. They study their idol’s past and how he was able to overcome all adversities.

Individuals who desire to become stimulated associate with productive people. Successful people have large ambitions. Becoming ambitious and dreaming large dreams can maintain the inspiration alive. Becoming ambitious is actually great as lengthy as you don’t step on other people’s toes and offers motivation to fellow males.

A strong desire can trigger people to get inspired and aspire for it. Again, stay within the confines of good fellowship, not hurting anybody along the way. Some people desire popularity. They aspire to be well known in society. They set their sights higher and aim to be recognized and respected.

Adore is a strong motivator. There was as soon as a man who pursued his love interest. He was in a position to get married towards the girl of his ambitions. His adore for his wife motivated him to complete his greatest in his job to supply for his growing loved ones. Love supplied the spark and nurtured his dreams to aspire for that greatest that life has to offer for him and his loved ones.

Many sources of inspiration can help you in achieving success in life. Arguing about whichever comes first - whether inspiration or aspiration - is not one of them. The important thing is to find your true source of inspiration and to remain focused in the achievement of your goals.

Inspiration

What does the word inspiration mean? I look at the word and break it into two parts: “in” and “Spirit.” To live an inspired life, then, means to be “in Spirit” all the time - to be in tune with the magnificent presence of the Higher Self within you. Where in effect, the mind is open to everything, and attached to nothing. We are all derived from an organizing intelligence no matter what religion, nationality, or belief system, that divine spark resides within everyone even if the person is not currently aware of it.

As a result, this organizing intelligence may be the place from which we all derive inspiration - in -spirit. An inspired life is discovering a way to reside in harmony using the divine intelligence with every thought you’ve. To live at all times in spirit and feeling your self whenever you are disconnected from spirit. The crucial is becoming in touch with that divine supply inside that is inspiration. Residing morning in and morning out, watching every thought and knowing that you’ve left spirit whenever you have a believed that doesn’t include everybody - when you turn out to be ego centered (Edging-God-Ou)

Being inspired is about changing awareness of yourself as being limited, having no luck, things never working out, etc. into realizing that you are unlimited and have the potential to create whatever you truly desire if it is in alignment with the divine within. Whatever the mind of man can conceive, the mind of mind man can create. You are a perfect creation of the Divine. There is absolutely nothing that you cannot create. Have a knowing that you can create and attract to yourself anything you need to create your desires. `

Living an inspired life is realizing that you came from a divine source - you are a piece of this divinity, an expression of unlimited potential. In truth, you are like what you came from - we are pieces of the divine. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, not human beings having a spiritual experience. A drop of the ocean is not the ocean, but the small drop has the same qualities and essence of .the ocean.. Since the source from which we came is love, peace, abundance, unlimited, perfect health, then we also have these qualities inherent in us as humans. It is actually an insult from which you came to think anything less.

We came into existence from divinity but somehow got separated from our source and developed an ego. We began to follow the herd and to identify with accumulating things. Quiet your mind, meditate, and get back in touch with your Higher Self.

When you are inspired, you discover yourself to be a greater person than you ever imagined. Realize that your thoughts are energy. It’s all about what kind of thoughts and feelings we offer up to achieve our desires which are aligned with Spirit.
