Working a Home Based Marketing Business
When most people think about starting their own home based marketing business it is for several reasons. They want to “be their own boss, write their own paycheck and work whenever they want.” That’s exactly why most of us get into this business. But, consider these few tips when setting up your marketing business.
Working from home has tons of perks. No boss standing over your shoulder. You’re not crammed into a tiny cubicle for 8 hours a day and you no longer have to fight with that daily commute to and from the office, just to name a few. But there are things to think about when working from home.
Working from home requires some self discipline and a certain mindset. True, you no longer have someone standing over you telling you when, where and why and for how long, but if you don’t get yourself into a routine the things that really need to be done will keep getting put off. The great thing about working from home is, it doesn’t matter when you work. I prefer the wee hours of the morning when the house is quiet. You can work morning, noon or night but you really need to stick to your routine.
Another consideration is, you really need a work space of your own. Your “office” if that’s what you want to call it. You need a place where you can hang a “working” sign so everyone else will know that you are busy and not to disturb you. If you are working and constantly have distractions and interruptions then it’s really no different than that cubicle at the old job. You really should make “your space” for work so everyone knows. Which brings up another great perk of working at home. You can make your office anywhere you want, the den, an extra bedroom, out on the deck or by the pool (my favorite) as long as you have an internet connection.
These are just a few of the insights that I have learned along the way to building my own business and working from home. Hope you found them helpful.
